New Canaan Girl Scouts is a Service Unit in the Girl Scouts of Connecticut Council.  We are open to girls in Grades K through 12, and are currently made up of 20 Troops, with over 160 girls and over 130 adults.

As members of a Troop, girls get together with their friends to play games and sing songs, go on field trips to museums and nature centers, and explore the outdoors. They earn badges as they learn to do all kinds of fun things - crafts, camping, geocaching, inventing, science experiments, planting gardens, and much more! They also learn the importance of helping others through community service projects.

In addition to Troop activities, girls have the opportunity to participate in Service Unit events, such as our annual Campfire Singalong, MLK Day Ice Skating, marching in New Canaan's Memorial Day Parade, Encampment Weekend (planned and hosted by our 9th Grade Troops), and of course selling cookies!  Plus, as members of Girl Scouts of Connecticut, girls can participate in Council-sponsored events as well!

Beginning in 4th Grade, girls can earn Girl Scouts' Highest Awards. Juniors (4th-5th Grade) work as a group to earn the Bronze Award. Cadettes (6th-8th Grade) work individually or in small groups to earn the Silver Award, and as Seniors (9th-10th Grade) & Ambassadors (11th-12th Grade), girls are eligible, as individuals, to earn the Gold Award. The Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. Once achieved, it shows colleges, employers, and the community that the recipient is out there changing the world!
